Code Club Volunteer Opportunities!

SkillsUSA is sponsoring an amazing community service opportunity, Barbara Morgan STEM Academy’s Code Club. It meets every Tuesday from 4:00-4:45 PM.  The school is located on Linder and Ustick, near Tully Park.

Not only is this a lot of fun, it fulfills requirements for your community service hours.  Remember that you must complete nine community service hours by the end of the school year. Seniors, juniors, and freshmen, please note that you do not have community service built into your grade level project. Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity to get those hours or to rack up some STOR points (20 points per meeting).

A Socktober Update from Student Government

We have completely smashed our goal of 500 pairs of socks by ALMOST making it to 1000 pairs of socks!  The Sophomores were amazing, as a class they brought in more socks than our school goal of 500!  This makes the second year the class of 2020 has carried away the Socktober donut party!  Great job!
We’re pretty proud of all of our student’s efforts for Socktober.  Student Government will be presenting the socks to the Boise Rescue Mission.

1.) Sophomores : 612 pairs!!!
2.) Seniors : 149 pairs
3.) Freshmen : 124 pairs
4.) Juniors : 102 pairs

Total : 987 pairs of socks!

Student Government thanks you for helping to support our community!

Rake Up Boise with NHS

Members of the MTCHS National Honor Society spent their Saturday morning with rakes in hand for Rake Up Boise!  They collected 25 bags of leaves and pine needles!  Great job, NHS!

Veteran’s Day Assembly

We had a wonderful Veteran’s Day Assembly!  Our  students invited their family members who are active duty military and veterans.  We appreciate all who took the time to come be a part of our celebration!  We were also very honored to have as our guest speaker Colonel Jack Marr, USAF, Retired.

Dragon Visits

MTCHS has been visiting West Ada middle schools during lunch period for the last few weeks.  Mrs. Green, Mr. Taylor and student volunteers have been answering questions and talking to interested students about our school and the upcoming Tech-X-Perience.

We appreciate all of our student volunteers who took time from their classes in order to be ambassadors for MTCHS.  Not only did they get to play with drones and robots, they have also been excellent representatives of Meridian Technical Charter High School!

Tech-X-Perience is next Thursday, November 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  This free event is the perfect time to visit our school, meet teachers and administration, get questions answered, and try a tech activity!  Events begin promptly at 6:30.  Please register at www.mtchs.org/reg
