Sock delivery!

Those big black bags are full of socks! 987 pairs of them, to be exact!  All of these socks were donated by our students in our annual Socktober Challenge!

Mrs. Merrell and Student Government representatives delivered the socks to the Boise Rescue Mission after school on November 16.  They all then stayed to help serve dinner at the River of Life.

A Socktober Update from Student Government

We have completely smashed our goal of 500 pairs of socks by ALMOST making it to 1000 pairs of socks!  The Sophomores were amazing, as a class they brought in more socks than our school goal of 500!  This makes the second year the class of 2020 has carried away the Socktober donut party!  Great job!
We’re pretty proud of all of our student’s efforts for Socktober.  Student Government will be presenting the socks to the Boise Rescue Mission.

1.) Sophomores : 612 pairs!!!
2.) Seniors : 149 pairs
3.) Freshmen : 124 pairs
4.) Juniors : 102 pairs

Total : 987 pairs of socks!

Student Government thanks you for helping to support our community!

Rake Up Boise with NHS

Members of the MTCHS National Honor Society spent their Saturday morning with rakes in hand for Rake Up Boise!  They collected 25 bags of leaves and pine needles!  Great job, NHS!

Veteran’s Day Assembly

We had a wonderful Veteran’s Day Assembly!  Our  students invited their family members who are active duty military and veterans.  We appreciate all who took the time to come be a part of our celebration!  We were also very honored to have as our guest speaker Colonel Jack Marr, USAF, Retired.

Dragon Visits

MTCHS has been visiting West Ada middle schools during lunch period for the last few weeks.  Mrs. Green, Mr. Taylor and student volunteers have been answering questions and talking to interested students about our school and the upcoming Tech-X-Perience.

We appreciate all of our student volunteers who took time from their classes in order to be ambassadors for MTCHS.  Not only did they get to play with drones and robots, they have also been excellent representatives of Meridian Technical Charter High School!

Tech-X-Perience is next Thursday, November 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  This free event is the perfect time to visit our school, meet teachers and administration, get questions answered, and try a tech activity!  Events begin promptly at 6:30.  Please register at www.mtchs.org/reg

Socktober Progress

Socktober Challenge Update

Our Socktober contest is heating up! We’re more than halfway there, and the race is very close! Knowing that there’s a donut party for the winning grade, and ten minutes extra lunchtime if we meet the goal of 500 pairs of socks, our students have really stepped up to the challenge! Here’s where it stands as of right now:
Freshmen: 100 pairs ?
Sophomores: 109 pairs of socks! ?
Juniors: 73 pairs ?
Seniors: 93 pairs ?

I looks like Student Government should reach their goal of distributing 500 pairs (or more) of socks to the Boise Rescue Mission! Great job so far, MTCHS students and families!

MTCHS Students at Gowen Thunder

MTCHS wishes to congratulate Electronics Teacher Mrs. Torek, whose lesson plan was accepted for the Gowen Thunder STEM Challenge!  As a reward, her Junior and Senior electronics students had a few extra perks as they attended Gowen Thunder on Friday, October 13. In addition to their other STEM activities, students were given a turn on the A-10 Warthog flight simulator!  They also watched the USAF Thunderbirds practice, enjoyed an A-10 demonstration, toured the tarmac and looked at several airplanes, and by all accounts had an amazing time!

Gowen Field Air Show Trip

Mrs. Torek’s electronics juniors and seniors have been invited to Gowen Field to watch the pilots practice for an air show this weekend. The students will be bused to Gowen Field on Friday, October 13th and will stay for the morning. We will be returning to the school by 12:30. Students will need to bring lunches, something to drink, and something warm to wear as we will be outdoors for most of the day.
