New Start Times for MTCHS

In order to address some of the time that has been lost from 6 snow days this year, last night the the MTCHS Board of Directors approved a plan to gain some additional time back.  While we have to continue to work within the same transportation parameters of the West Ada School District, MTCHS still needs to recover additional time.  By making a small adjustment to our own daily schedule we can make up for the lost time by the end of the year.

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday January 25, class will begin at 7:55 (instead of 8:05 for Wednesdays) and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday classes start at 7:50 (instead of 7:55). This schedule will not change any busing times to/or from home high schools and still allow us to meet the state requirements.  Please contact us if you have further questions.

Senior Entrepreneurship Project

The Senior Entrepreneurship project is an in-depth project allowing students to create, develop, and present a new business idea. Students will develop a product and/or service, write a complete business plan according to the Small Business Administration standards, develop a corporate identity package, and create a prototype of their product/service. This is a comprehensive project teaching students how to take an idea and develop it for a market. All groups will present their businesses in front of a panel of small business owners and business development professionals.

Class Projects: Juniors

The junior class has been very busy practicing their upcoming business presentations on Friday.

The junior project has two goals.  First, to teach students project management skills, the phases involved in project management, and what it means to work with a team on a project.  The second is to have them work through a project using project management phases.  Their end deliverable is also in two parts.  The first part is a trade-show like presentation to local members of business and industry of a sustainability idea which has local value.  They will present their idea for seven to nine minutes in a trade-show environment complete with display, brochures, and a well thought out presentation.  Each team member presents.  The second deliverable is a project management portfolio which the teachers grade.  This portfolio is a snapshot of each phase of their project from planning to team member evaluations.
