And the winner is…..

Everyone!  The school really came together and created some amazing baskets for the Student Government Holiday Basket Drive!  Canned food and cash donations arrived in abundance, and the total amount earned for gift card was $703.81!  Just imagine all the families that are being helped with this event!  Well done Dragons!

But there was serious competition involved, and everyone was anxious to hear who won the prizes!

The award for the best Holiday Basket goes to Mr. Taylor and Mr. Erickson’s senior classes, co-collaborators of the Christmas tree basket.  They are getting donuts for their creative work.

Winners of the pizza party for having the biggest donation: Mr. Bodell’s Earth Science class! They donated a whopping $267.06 to the gift card fund!  Amazing job, Freshmen!

Student Government thanks everyone for their contributions!

Step 3: Designing your Ad

Send us your images and student tribute and we will use our expertise to design a beautiful layout for your senior! We prefer that you email digital photos, rather than bring physical copies, so please scan any images prior to releasing them to us.  We cannot be responsible for precious, one-of-a-kind photographs that may get lost or damaged.

Holiday baskets

Student Government’s 2019 Holiday Basket Drive is almost over.  We ask that any final items be brought into first period class, as all baskets will be decorated and placed in Haley Hall for pictures and staff judging!  Any monetary donations for gift cards are due by 2:15 tomorrow afternoon (December 19).

Baskets are looking amazing so far, let’s make this a wonderful year for Treasure Valley families in need of a little help this holiday season!

Blanket donations

The Idaho Humane Society came today and picked up piles and piles of soft blankets from the NHS blanket drive… 78 in total!  Thank you students!  Your donations will go a long ways to provide warmth and comfort to dogs and cats at the shelter!

Donations of blankets are always welcome at the Humane Society for those who didn’t get their blankets here in time.

Sources of Strength

Sources of Strength
We are proud to introduce “Sources of Strength,” an international suicide prevention program funded by a grant from the Idaho Lives Project. Eleven MTCHS and nine MMACHS students have teamed up with advisors Mary Helen Green and Melissa Bishop on a mission to spread hope, help, and strength into every corner of our community. Their goal is to encourage students to focus on hope, help, and strength when they are dealing with difficult times, depression, and trauma.

You can find more information about the Sources of Strength program at https://sourcesofstrength.org/

20 Years of Service!

Jeff Bodell, Beth Richtsmeier, Vincent French, and Mary Helen Green were honored this morning for their twenty years of service to Meridian Technical Charter High School.  These four were involved in the founding of our school from the very beginning, back in 1999!  We are so appreciative of all they have accomplished through the years for the school and for the students who have passed through these doors.  These amazing people are part of what makes our school so exceptional.  Thank you to all of you!

Holiday Dinner Baskets

Student Government will be holding our 6th annual Holiday Dinner Basket Drive.  Our goal is to provide ten local families with an entire holiday dinner.  Students will be asked to sign up for a particular item to bring, and we are also asking that each student bring in $1.  This will go towards purchasing ten $20 gift cards for families to purchase the main course (ie. turkey, ham, etc.).  All baskets will be collected on Wednesday, December 19th and will be donated to the Salvation Army to distribute in time for the holidays.

Donations are tax deductible, if you would like to make a larger donation a receipt can be provided from Mrs. Claflin at the front office.

In addition to fostering the spirit of giving, this will also be a competition.  The first hour class that creates the best looking basket will receive a donut party and the most helpful class, the one that brings in the most items, will receive a pizza party, courtesy of Student Government.

Thank you for supporting this great cause, and have a happy holiday season!
